Something in the AirLast modified: July 26, 2005 - 8:55 AM
Temora boasts one of the best country aerodromes and one of the most active you'll find anywhere. It's attracting attention both internationally and nationally making Temora a Mecca for aviation enthusiasts. Temora's greatest contribution to World War 2 was the No.10 Elementary Flying Training School established on 1st May 1941 at the Temora Aerodrome.
Weekdays & weekends are busy with the recently founded Aviation Museum, gliders, pilots, planes, skydivers and spectators galore. Recreational aviation is a hot pursuit in Temora and destined to become even bigger as adrenaline and adventure sports gain favour.
Skydive Temora has hosted the national competition in canopy formation and the ACT state championships. Tandem skydiving is popular as training only takes 20 minutes and the jump is made in harness with a fully qualified instructor.
Temora is relatively fog-free with unrestricted airspace and an abundance of good weather. Ideal flying conditions are matched with a strong Aero Club and towns folk who just love flying and building small planes.
Temora hosts championships annually in aerobatics and gliding. The Aero Club offers ultralight training on licensed airfield and theory courses including Flight Rules & Procedures and Navigation.
There is a caravan park and camping ground on the airfield. Small planes can be frequently heard overhead and it's not uncommon to sight Australia's only flying Spitfire in Temoras airspace. Town celebrations often feature an aerobatic or parachuting displays. Contact details
