Temora was the home of champion pacer, Paleface Adios, also known as the "Temora Tornado", a dearly loved champion by many Australians. Among his great victories were two Lord Mayor's Cups at Harold Park, two Uhr Championships in Brisbane and his greatest victory - the Winfield Cup in Melbourne when he was running as an eight-year-old. Paleface Adios is remembered in the form of a life-size monument of him with driver, Col Pike, in Paleface Park on the corner of Loftus and Hoskins Streets. Harness racing has always been a strong sport in Temora and owner trainers and trotting studs continue to have a strong presence in the district. Regular trotting meetings during summer feature prominently on the town's calender of events.
