We are very cognisant of the need to protect the rich tapestry of our past - an historical smorgasbord of gold finds, prosperity, ethnic mixes, characters (and a fair share of rogues/bushrangers). Similarly Temora owes much to the agricultural sector. The area is agriculturally rich - one of the safest agricultural regions in Australia and a substantial support industry has developed to service these needs. Temora Shire is however not one dimensional in industrial terms. The agricultural sector is supplemented by a vibrant manufacturing base, comprehensive service industries, excellent retail shopping and a growing tourism industry. In recent years, the tourism aspect has flourished with the opening of the Temora Aviation Museum. This facility is a "must see" to people of all interests and attracts in excess of 40,000 visitors annually. It provides the only opportunity for people to view rare operational aircraft, including the Spitfire, Meteor and Dragonfly, in Australia. We value innovative thinking and entrepreneurial spirit in Temora and will support proposals that benefit our community.
