FAQs
How do I register my cat or dog?It is an easy two step process to register your dog or cat and give them lifetime protection. Step 1 - Chip InPuppies and kittens must, by 12 weeks of age, be permanently identified through microchipping. Inside the chip is a number which can be read by scanners to identify your pet.To do this you need to make an appointment with Council's Ranger on 6980 1100 or your local vet, and pay the applicable fee. Step 2 - RegisterPuppies and kittens must also be registered through Council, on the NSW Companion Animals Register, by six months of age.The Statewide Register records all microchip numbers, linked to owners details. This means you can be informed if your pet is found. Your privacy is strictly protected as only authorised people can access the Registry which is not linked to any other database. When Lifetime Registering your pet, you need to bring to Council all the relevant forms, e.g. Microchipping Form, Sterilisation Form, Pension Card, Breeders Card and pay the the applicable fee. Once microchipped and registered, your pet is protected for life. If your pet is sold or given away, the above steps must be completed by the new owner, if they haven't already been completed.
