Temora Shire Councillors and Staff have completed a comprehensive study of all Council's operations and services, incorporating projections for the next decade. Meetings have been held regularly over the past couple of months.
The 50 specific functional areas will form the basis of Council's draft managemetn plan, to be combined with a draft budget and put on public exhibition at the end of May. Temora Shire Council's General Manager Mr Gary Lavelle said it had been a major exercise and one from which the community stood to benefti in numerous ways. "This has been a tremendous, ongoing and dynamic process". Discussions had generated some interesting ideas relating to the shire's future long-term. "There has been some ideas from left field - and that is what we wanted. Some areas have been quite complex and others more straightforward. Councillors have gained feedback from users and we have looked at functions from personnel, to sporting fields, public toilets and the aerodrome. This is the first time Council has attempted a 10 year plan and teh community will beneftit. For example, if an organisation is looking for government funding, one of the first questions of the funding body is if that project is included in Council's management plan. Now even if such a project might be a way down the track, it could still be mentioned".
Councils General Manager encouraged the public to view the draft documents when they go on display.
