TEMORA UNITED KICKING GOALS THANKS TO ASIA CUP LEGACY FUND

17 Sep 2018 9:10 AM -
Tweet
Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke yesterday announced Temora United Soccer Club will receive $61,000 from the second round of the Asia Cup Legacy Fund.
“The facilities and amenities at the Temora Soccer Grounds will receive a much needed, long overdue upgrade,” Ms Cooke said.
“Well done to Di Kemp - Grants Officer and life member, Debbie Block - President and life member, Daryl Kemp - Treasurer and life member, and everyone at the club. I’m so proud of everything you do week in and out.
“It is fantastic to see that this major international sporting event hosted in 2015 has been able to continue to benefit grassroots sport by helping to boost local participation through these successful grants,” she added.
Sports Minister Stuart Ayres said the fund will invest $4.1 million back in local clubs around the state from the 2015 Asia Cup Legacy Fund.
Sports Minister Stuart Ayres said: “The second round of the fund will see 19 projects worth more than $2.3 million go towards improving the quality and quantity of local club facilities across the state.”
NSW Football CEO Stuart Hodge said the collaborative effort of the NSW Government, Football NSW (FNSW) and Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) has enabled local clubs to benefit.
“Along with supporting participation, we will see flow-on effects such as these upgraded and new facilities creating stronger communities - whilst improving the overall experience for players, coaches and spectators,” Mr Hodge said.
“With more than 280,000 registered players now playing football in NSW, it is the financial support from initiatives such as this legacy fund that will ensure the future of football continues to grow around the state.”

About the Shire

The Shire of Temora offers all the benefits of country living with a comprehensive range of quality affordable services.

Temora is situated approximately 80 km north of Wagga Wagga in the South West (Riverina) of New South Wales. Canberra is two hours drive to the east, with Griffith a 1.5 hour drive to the west.

Temora has a huge advantage as it is centrally located between the cities of Sydney and Melbourne, as well as being situated within South West Slopes/Riverina area, making it an ideal base from which to visit the region.

Temora Shire includes the town of Temora, and villages of Ariah Park and Springdale, but outreaches to other small communities outside the Shire boundary. With a strong retail trade sector and an active business community, many visitors are surprised at the variety of shopping within the town.
