The Member for Cootamundra has officially opened the new waterside at the Temora Municipal Pool.

The new 8 metre high slide was made possible thanks to a $400,000 grant from Round 3 of the Stronger Country Communities Fund, and a generous contribution from the late Mrs Jill Buckeridge.

Steph Cooke MP said the new slide was an asset for the Temora community.

“On opening day there was already a long line of local kids keen to enjoy the slide, and it’s clear the community is going to get a lot of joy out of this fantastic piece of infrastructure,” Ms Cooke said.

“The Temora Recreation Centre is a place very close to my heart, I spent so much time here growing up, and it’s wonderful to be able to open this upgrade.”

“A huge congratulation to the Temora Shire Council team, particularly Project Manager Kris Dunstan, Town Planner Claire Golder and the many local Tradesmen who brought this project to life.”

Ms Cooke was joined by Temora Shire Mayor Rick Firman to open the new infrastructure.

Councillor Firman said the community was very excited about the slide.

“We are extremely grateful for this project, I haven’t seen so much hype about a development for a long time. It was terrific to see the excitement for this opening,” Cr Firman said.

“This is huge for our community and will entice people from other communities to come and visit, we are very grateful to Ms Cooke and to the late Mrs Buckeridge, who generously left money to other community groups as well.”

“I particularly want to thank the working party who are behind the Recreation Centre’s master plan, and congratulate them for their work.”
