Heritage Conservation Activities

In the early stages of the year 2000, resources towards heritage related issues received a significant boost due to the appointment of a contract Heritage Advisor under the State Government's Heritage Assistance Program.

The advisor has given and continues to give free advice to property owners regarding the restoration and enhancement of historical buildings in the shire.

At the same time Council established a Heritage Committee which will work on projects including the Main Street Study, the Heritage Assistance Fund, Community Based Heritage Study and Cultural Tourism.

The Heritage Committee meets on the first Thursday of each month in the Temora Shire Council Chambers.

The Committee will also report to Council on heritage related matters within the entire shire, including the conservation and enhancement of aboriginal, archaeological, architectural and historical sites.
