Additional SRV Drop-In Session Added Following Community Feedback

Temora Shire Council has added an additional drop-in session in Temora to give more residents, business owners and primary producers the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback on the proposed Special Rate Variation (SRV).
The additional session will be held on Tuesday 18 August from 4pm to 6pm at the Temora Memorial Town Hall foyer, providing a later time option for those who may not have been able to attend previous daytime sessions.
Council added the session following feedback from the community requesting another opportunity to speak directly with Council representatives, with particular interest from businesses, farmers and residents who needed a time outside standard working hours.
Mayor Rick Firman OAM said Council was committed to ensuring the community had every opportunity to understand the proposal and have their say before any decision is made.
“We have heard from our Temora Shire community that having another session, particularly at a later time, would make it easier for more of our residents to attend. We have listened to that feedback and have added this additional opportunity,” Mayor Firman said.
“Our Councillors and staff are committed to having an open and transparent conversation with our shire community about Council’s long-term financial sustainability. We want to ensure residents have the opportunity to ask questions, understand the proposal and provide feedback before any decision is made.”

The drop-in session will provide an opportunity for community members to discuss the proposed SRV, ask questions about the different scenarios being considered, learn more about Council’s financial position and provide feedback as part of the formal consultation process.
Councillors and staff will be available throughout the session to assist residents with questions, including understanding the online rates calculator and the potential impact on individual properties.
Community members who are unable to attend the session can still provide feedback through Council’s online survey or by making a formal submission via letter or email before consultation closes at 9am Friday 28 August 2026.
