Mayor Rick Firman said:

‘Citizens of Temora Shire will be sifting through the news of a Covid positive essential worker visiting our Shire last week.  From the outset, I ask us all to remain calm and composed as all that can be done and more – is being done,' Mayor Rick Firman said.

‘This individual was only here for some two days as we understand it, and was A-symptomatic, meaning he has had his vaccinations, as we understand it.  This further amplifies how crucial it is for us to have our vaccination!,' Mayor Firman added.

'MLHD will have Covid testing clinics both in Temora and Ariah Park. This is most important so those who would like to be tested may do so.  I will be one that will be attending to be tested, as I have been tested previously, with thankfully, a Covid negative result.'

‘I encourage anyone who feels they would like to be tested to please do so,' Mayor Firman.

‘We need to continue to do what our current NSW Public Health Orders advise and ensure our loved ones are doing OK,' Mayor Firman said.

‘The main thing for us to do is not to become overwhelmed and frightened by this news.  This is a visiting essential worker who was only here in our community for two days and left again’- and he is showing no symptoms.'

‘I sincerely thank our State MP Steph Cooke, and also MLHD Chief Executive, Jill Ludford for their strong support.'

‘I’m proud of our Shire community here in Temora.  We have and will continue to do the right thing and we will be OK, I just know it,' the Mayor added.

‘Councillors, staff and I are here for our Shire community, if and when you need to reach out.'

'Please continue to support those local businesses still able to trade in the restrictions. It is most important that the community still rally around our business community.'

‘As I’ve always said, we must be alert but remain calm – being hysterical is not going to help anyone or anything,' Mayor Firman concluded.
