Governance Officer

The Governance Officer is responsible for supporting and strengthening Council’s governance and compliance environment by providing advice and administrative coordination across policies, procedures, delegations, probity and statutory requirements, and by supporting continuous improvement of Council’s governance systems and practices.

The role provides advice and practical support to all departments and the Management and Executive Team, including coordination of Council’s Integrated Planning & Reporting (IP&R) framework, support for Council and Committee meeting processes, and administration of key compliance functions including information access and privacy (GIPA/PPIP), confidentiality and declassification processes, and governance-related systems and registers.

The position:

  • Coordinate Council’s Governance Framework  
  • Support the preparation, monitoring and review of Council’s IP&R documents and manage confidentiality and declassification processes for Council reports
  • Coordinate Council’s responsibilities under the Government Information Public Access Act (GIPA), Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1998 (PPIP Act)
  • Coordinate and provide administrative support to the Internal Audit function in conjunction with relevant stakeholders including the ARIC, Council Executive and Internal Audit provider(s).
  • Support the operation of Council’s online procurement and tendering platform
  • Prepare and undertake statutory reporting


Benefits:

  • Permanent, Part time - 3 days per week
  • Starting salary from $70,800 (FTE) plus 12% superannuation

Final remuneration package negotiable and commensurate with candidates skills and experience.

Application requirements:

  • Certificate IV in Business, Governance or relevant discipline (or equivalent) 
  • Demonstrated administrative or governance experience in a corporate and/or complex organisational setting
  • Exemplary communication skills and attention to detail 
  • Problem solving, analytical and organisational skills
