The Temora community is warmly invited to come together for a cuppa and a cause at the Biggest Morning Tea, to be held at the Bundawarrah Centre on Tuesday 26 May.

This special event will raise vital funds for local CanAssist and the Cancer Council, supporting both grassroots assistance for local families and ongoing cancer research across Australia.

Guests can enjoy a welcoming morning of connection and generosity, with free entry (everyone welcome—bring a plate if you can!), morning tea by donation, as well as raffles and a lucky door prize.

Bundawarrah Centre Manager, Lauren Carr said the event is about more than just tea and treats—it’s about standing alongside those in our community impacted by cancer. “Cancer touches nearly every family in some way. Events like the Biggest Morning Tea remind us of the strength of community and the difference we can make together.”

Cancer continues to affect millions of Australians. Each year, around 170,000 Australians are diagnosed with cancer, and tragically it remains responsible for around 3 in 10 deaths nationwide.

In fact, almost one in two Australians will be diagnosed with cancer by the age of 85, highlighting just how widespread its impact is.

Funds will directly support CanAssist Temora, helping ensure that local people impacted can access the treatment they need during incredibly challenging times. CanAssist provides financial assistance, accommodation, and practical support, easing the burden of travel and costs associated with cancer care.

Proceeds will also contribute to the Cancer Council’s research, prevention programs, and support services, which have helped improve survival rates to around 71% over five years, reflecting significant progress in diagnosis and treatment.

“In regional areas like Temora, access to treatment can come with additional challenges, including the need to travel long distances, making local support services even more essential. We currently host local Cancer support groups here regularly – so it was a no brainer!” said Miss Carr of the reasoning behind getting behind this cause.

The Bundawarrah Centre Biggest Morning Tea is a chance for the community to come together, share stories, and make a meaningful difference—one cup at a time.
