Temora Shire Honours Seniors with Community-Led Celebration

Temora Shire Council is proud to support a vibrant, community-led program of events as part of Seniors Week celebrations from 2–15 March.

Seniors Week provides an opportunity to recognise and celebrate the invaluable contribution older residents make to the social, cultural and economic life of the Shire. This year’s program features a diverse range of activities delivered by passionate local groups and individuals.

Events include pottery workshops, aqua aerobics sessions and creative writing activities, offering opportunities for creativity, connection and active participation. The program highlights the strong spirit of collaboration within the Temora Shire and the many ways seniors continue to enrich local life.

Council is pleased to assist in promoting and supporting the locally driven initiative, which reflects a shared commitment to inclusion, wellbeing and lifelong engagement.

Mayor Rick Firman OAM said Seniors Week is an important moment to acknowledge both the experience and ongoing contribution of older residents.

“Our seniors bring a wealth of knowledge, resilience and perspective to our Temora Shire community. They are volunteers, mentors, carers, leaders and storytellers who contribute enormously to community life,” Cr Firman said.

“It’s terrific to see local groups coming together to deliver such a varied and engaging program of events. Seniors Week is about celebrating connection, creativity and active ageing, and Council encourage everyone to please be involved.”

Printed Senior’s Week programs are available at key locations and hot spots around town, and the full program can also be accessed here(PDF, 959KB).
