Temora Shire Council, in partnership with the Temora Community Centre, have been successful in securing $15,000 through the Stronger Together Grants Program – Festival and Events Round 2.

The funding comes from Multicultural NSW’s Stronger Together Grants Program, which aims to support multicultural festivals and events across NSW. Multicultural NSW invest in community projects and activities that foster community harmony and celebrate cultural diversity as a precious part of our identity and way of life.

“Our Shire has been very fortunate to have been successful in obtaining $15,000 in grant funding through Multicultural NSW’s Stronger Together Festival and Events Grant program. These grants are awarded to celebrate cultural diversity through events and festivals that bring communities together, showcasing the benefits of diversity in cultures and promote social cohesion and harmony”, said Mayor, Rick Firman.

“Council will use the grant funding to host the Embrace Festival on Sunday 2nd April 2023. The purpose of the Embrace Festival is to foster a society where everyone can make a commitment to the community and is an opportunity for all Australians to celebrate living in a culturally diverse society. Council appreciates the support of our State MP, Ms Cooke in obtaining this grant”, concluded Mayor Firman.

Temora Shire Council Economic & Community Development Officer Shontayne Ward said Embrace Festival is for all Temora Shire residents to enjoy.

“Embrace Festival is open to all members of the community, will promote cross-cultural awareness and understanding through allowing multicultural communities to sell traditional food at pop-up food stalls, encourage sharing of cultural traditions through interactive experiences and workshops such as learning basic dialect through a language workshop, and the arts, which includes roving traditional dance displays”, said Shontayne Ward

“Local schools, businesses and community organisations are encouraged to be involved in this event. If you would like to be involved in some way, please get in touch”.
